Screenshot Expense Capture

Track expenses from a screenshot, not a typing session

Paid on GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm? Share the payment screenshot into Spenrol and on-device OCR reads the amount and merchant for you. It's a UPI screenshot expense tracker built to skip the retyping, without asking for SMS or bank access.

The problem

Typing every transaction is where most trackers lose you

Manual expense trackers like Money Manager and Monefy ask you to type the amount, pick a merchant, and choose a category — every single time you spend. It works for a week. Then you skip one entry, then three, and by the second week the ledger is stale.

SMS-reading apps solve the effort problem, but by asking for access to every message in your inbox, not just bank alerts. That trade — full inbox access for less typing — is a bigger ask than most people are comfortable making.

Spenrol takes a third path. Pay on GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm, share the confirmation screenshot into Spenrol, and on-device OCR reads the amount and merchant. No typing, no SMS access — just the one screenshot you actively chose to share.

How it works

From payment to logged entry, in the share sheet

01

Pay and screenshot

Complete the payment on GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm. On the confirmation screen, take a screenshot the way you normally would.

02

Tap Share

Open the screenshot and tap Share from your phone's photo viewer or gallery — the same share sheet you'd use to send it on WhatsApp.

03

Choose Spenrol

Select Spenrol from the list of apps in the share sheet. The app opens with your screenshot already attached.

04

OCR reads the details

On-device OCR reads the amount and merchant straight off the image. Nothing about this step involves SMS, notifications, or bank access.

05

Confirm, categorise, tag

Check the auto-filled amount and merchant, edit if needed, pick a category, and tag the spend required, optional, or impulse — one tap, always your call.

06

Done

The entry is logged. It updates today's safe-to-spend number and rolls into your Smart Spending Score.

The boundary

What OCR reads, and what stays your call

Read automatically

The transaction amount and the merchant name, straight off the screenshot you shared, using on-device OCR.

Always your decision

The category and the intent tag — required, optional, or impulse. Spenrol never infers intent from OCR; that judgment call stays with you, every time.
